A Future in Waste Management

How easily we forget that our little ones literally mimic everything we do. The other day when Penelope, Gabby, and I were out at the park so Gabby could do her business, Penelope cheerfully took the bag of "business" out of my hand and dropped it in the trash can for me. It's amazing that she thinks that task is so cool it is worth copying.

H Words and Manners

Penelope is starting to master a new sound: "h." So far we are working on "hat" and "hi" - we are also working on when it is appropriate to say "hi." I have seen her say her version of "hi", which as Ben pointed out seems to have a "th" at the end, to a couple of people now. While this social skill is on the upswing, the "staring-at-people during dinner" habit does not seem to be going anywhere.

The Next Carrie Bradshaw

Penelope is obsessed with shoes these days. Which is both cute and annoying. She only has 3 pairs that could be considered to fit her, and a pair of rain boots. The ones she favors most these days are red and came with (removable) squeakers in the heels (a gift from Grandma Champa for Valentine's Day). She loves the red shoes so much that she wants to wear them regardless of whether they clash with her outfit, and when I say clash, I mean a pink courdroy jumper.

The Nose Game

Penelope has a new game - it involves touching her nose, then touching Mom's nose, then touching Dad's nose. It has variations as well, for example we may touch Dad's nose first, then Penelope's nose, then Mom's, or really any order. The real trick is getting both of her parents within touching distance at the same time. Anyway, it is pretty cute to watch and be a part of.

Old Photos

These were actually taken back in January: there was snow on the ground and Penelope had been walking for about 3 months (but almost all of it indoors due to the horrific cold, grey, wet weather we had from November through, well, through the present to be honest!).

Welcoming the Newest Nephew

On February 18, 2011 my sister and her husband welcomed their second little boy to the world: Conley Mason Sadovsky. A few weeks ago I went to Indiana to meet him in person. It was a great visit, and a great reminder of how wonderful it is to have another baby in the family (and of course how much work they are). Here is a photo I snapped of him snuggly in his carseat!

Penelope @ the Slide

While I was away a few weeks ago visiting my newest nephew Conley, Ben took Penelope to the park and in particular to the slide.
I hope that you enjoy the video he shot. I consider it to be a classic "dad" video. I think you will understand what I mean when you watch all the way to the end.
